Pressure

The field collapses inward under its own weight, gestural marks pressing against each other while diagonal lines cut through from multiple directions. The ground remains visible at the edges, giving the compressed centre no room to expand outward.

Acrylic and ink are worked together on Fabriano paper, building a layered surface through broad gestural application and selective linear marks. The diagonal lines appear to have been made with a different tool or resist, cutting through the painted field. The tonal range is limited to black, grey, and white, which sharpens the sense of pressure and density.

The artwork is framed in a slim contemporary black aluminium frame using Art Glass.
