Recursion

The surface is almost entirely consumed by a dark layered field in which marks fold over and into each other without resolution. White lines cut across in a loose grid, but they do not organise the ground beneath them so much as mark its resistance. Beneath the density, earlier strokes are still faintly legible.

Built through multiple printings and layers on Fabriano paper, the surface shows evidence of repeated working in the texture and tonal variation within the dark field. Faint striations and marks from earlier states remain visible beneath the accumulated ground. White linear elements emerge through selective removal or resist.

The artwork is framed in a slim contemporary black aluminium frame using Art Glass.
